LSV KITSThe street-legal lane
The equipment that makes it legal.
Federal law (FMVSS No. 500) sets the street-legal equipment list: headlamps, tail and stop lamps, turn signals, reflectors, mirrors, a windshield, a parking brake, and seat belts — on a cart that runs 20–25 mph. These kits supply that equipment, priced and sourced. Add one to a build and watch the out-the-door number update live.
The honest caveat dealers skip: a kit brings a cart to LSV equipment spec — it is not the same as factory FMVSS 500 certification. The full distinction, explained. Some links are affiliate links (how we make money).

Frequently asked
- What kits make a golf cart street legal?
- An LSV equipment kit adds the gear Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 500 requires: headlamps, tail and stop lamps, front and rear turn signals, reflectors, mirrors, a windshield, a parking brake, and seat belts. The cart must also run 20–25 mph. A kit brings a cart to LSV equipment spec — it does not by itself confer factory FMVSS 500 certification.
- Does installing a street-legal kit make my cart an LSV?
- Not automatically. Equipment is only part of the test: registration as an LSV depends on your state's rules for converted vehicles, and a dealer conversion carries different legal weight than a factory certification with a VIN and Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin. Confirm with your state and county before relying on it.
- How much does a street-legal kit cost?
- Basic light-and-signal kits start around $230–$430; comprehensive road-ready bundles run higher depending on the cart. Every kit we list shows its sourced price and exactly what's included — and you can add one to a configured build to see the full out-the-door effect.
Buying the cart too? Configure the whole thing with a live out-the-door estimate — or skip conversions entirely with a factory-certified LSV.
