Boca EV Mare

The Boca EV Mare is the entry 2-seat 'Golf Ready' cart (876 lb) on the shared 48V 5 kW AC drivetrain with a 48V 105Ah lithium pack (150Ah upgrade) and a 6-hour charge, with a 10.1-inch display. It ships at 20 mph, which is at or below the federal LSV floor, so it is NOT a street-legal LSV as delivered — Boca's own sell sheet reads '20 MPH Cart w/ 25 MPH LSV Upgrade Option,' making the street-legal configuration a paid upgrade rather than the factory spec. PDG holds an NHTSA LSV manufacturer registration (WMI 7Y6), but that is a company-level registration and does not certify this model. Boca EV publishes no MSRP, range, dimensions, or warranty terms, and positions the Mare for golf and short-hop use rather than street registration. Street-legal: no.

◆ Range reality check

~40mi, normalized

Computed from the 5.04 kWh pack (system voltage × amp-hours) at a standard 0.125 kWh per mile — the same efficiency on every model, so ranges compare apples-to-apples. Real-world range varies with load, terrain, speed, and battery age.

Our figures, from verified specs + MSRP — lower cost-per-seat and cost-per-mile is better; higher power-to-weight means more pep and hill-climb. Range uses the normalized estimate. Cost per kWh is what the price actually buys you in battery — the single figure that separates a cheap cart from an under-batteried one, and almost nobody publishes it. Pack energy is the maker's published kWh where they give one, otherwise volts × amp-hours.

Where it wins, where it gives

Strengths

  • 10-year battery warranty is among the longest in the field.

Trade-offs

  • Not a factory-certified LSV — street-legal only by dealer package or self-attestation, not the NHTSA registry.
  • Manufacturer hasn't published a range figure — we left it blank rather than guess.

Street-legal status

Not a factory LSV — here's the conversion path

Ships at 20 mph — at or below the 20 mph LSV floor — so it is not a street-legal LSV as delivered. Boca's own sell sheet lists "20 MPH Cart w/ 25 MPH LSV Upgrade Option," making the 25 mph street-legal configuration a paid upgrade, not the factory spec. PDG holds an NHTSA LSV manufacturer registration (WMI 7Y6), but that is company-level and does not certify this model. Confirm the upgrade is fitted, and get the VIN and titling paperwork, before buying it to register.

The honest caveat

A kit adds equipment— lights, signals, mirrors, belts. It does not make a cart a factory-certified LSV. Federal LSV status (FMVSS 500 + a 17-digit VIN) is set at the factory and can't be bolted on afterward. Most light kits stop at lighting, so you may still need mirrors, a DOT windshield, seat belts, and a dealer speed increase to reach the 20-25 mph window — and some states won't register a DIY conversion as an LSV at all. Check your local golf-cart vs. LSV rules before driving on public roads.
